European wind: 2015 since 2000 and since 2006. The European Wind Energy Association annually publishes 'Wind in Power' which is an excellent compendium of wind energy statistics. Comparison of that information over time shows that EU wind has grown by just under 195 percent since 2006;
While this may seem somewhat unimpressive relative to Canada (668 percent), US (542 percent) and the World (481 percent) over the same period; this is because modern wind energy started in Europe and, as a result, has been growing there for longer. As a result relative growth in the recent past is not as impressive in Europe as it was for the other jurisdictions where growth has occurred more recently. The scale of wind growth in Europe since 1999 is illustrated by the following chart or by comparing the amount of electricity that the EU now generates from wind (and solar).
