The interesting thing to note from this graph is that, since 2004, SaskPower has been reducing its use of coal and replacing it with natural gas. It also appears that the combined generation of coal and gas (75 percent) is relatively steady.

The other conclusion one can draw is that over the same time period wind energy has been subject to a policy of active neglect: its market share has been unchanged at around 3 percent for almost 10 years. And that is shameful especially when you consider that we have arguably the best wind energy resource in Canada.
